A Message from the MATRIX Executive

MATRIX hosts research-intensive, residential programs addressing key challenges in the mathematical sciences in an environment where internationally renowned scientists collaborate and engage with the Australian research community for a significant length of time.

Mathematical research is a creative enterprise; real breakthroughs require new ways of thinking on highly abstract levels. Significant progress is made when outstanding researchers from all over the world come together in focused research environments for significant lengths of time. Specialised mathematical research institutes are the predominant and most successful method for fostering innovative research in the mathematical sciences and their applications.
