Harmonic Analytic Connections

David Wood

  •  27 May 2024 - 31 May 2024
     8:00 am - 4:00 pm

Organisers:
Ji Li (Macquarie University)
Pierre Portal (Australian National University)
Alexandria Rose [Laura Cladek] (Australian National University)
Po-Lam Yung (Australian National University)

Program Description:
This research program intends to build on recent breakthroughs in harmonic analysis that have drawn on deep connections between harmonic analysis and neighbouring fields like algebraic geometry, discrete computational geometry, additive combinatorics, and number theory. Polynomial methods, originating from discrete computational geometry, have provided new geometric input and refined structural frameworks for approaching wave packet analysis toward central conjectures in harmonic analysis and dispersive partial differential equations. This research program will explore these commonalities through small group discussions between experts working on diverse aspects of this revolution in harmonic analysis. This research program will serve as the launching event for a 2024 Special Year in Harmonic Analysis at the ANU.
